Barrington Tower

On January 12 2006, The Illinois Railway Museum was granted permission to visit Barrington tower and collect any antiquities that were desired. The model board, both signs, both phones outside the tower, several levers, cabinets, and other misc. items were preserved. EJ&E provided a look out watchman, and on track protection for this endeavor.

Barrington Lock bed

Here is the mechanical equivalent of a computer. This is the locking bed of a lever system. Saxby and Farmer figured out how to mechanically lock routes rather than today's modern computer based systems.

Several Inches of snow fell the night before we visited Barrington tower for the last time. Again, we had an EJ&E official there who provided authority and track protection for our crew.

UP Coal past the tower at Barrington

Here is the head end of the coal train passing Barrington tower. Again we had proper EJ&E approval, and they were there to provide track protection and advise the train crew of our presence.
