In May of 1996 the EJ&E ran a special train to celebrate it's recent trackage rights agreements. This was the beginning, of course of what lead to CN's acquisition of "The J".
I believe the train ran the length of the mainlines, South Chicago to Waukegan. A friend tipped me off to this move and luckily I was off work and able to catch it. In this photo the train is timetable westbound, actually eastbound shortly after leaving South Chicago. I caught it crossing the Indiana Harbor Ship Canal in scenic East Chicago IN (Hick tower).
Shot with my "tank" Canon F-1 on Kodachrome 25 with a 20mm lens. I still have it, but don't use it. Thanks for viewing.
