An EJ&E Road Set at Waukegan in March 1974. If any other switcher showed up in Waukegan besides the 220, 236, 242,or 478, it would be a 300 series m.u. equipped EMD SW1200 used along with a centercab in road service. This locomotive consist was the norm for road power in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Locals would rate a single centercab. When the SD38s came, it became rare to see a switcher and an SD38; instead, two SD38s were utilized.
